A Biographical Portrait of Jane Seaton

Jane Seaton, Ph.D., is a life-long transformational artist with many years' experience as an art teacher, and was previously in private practice as a transpersonal psychotherapist for over ten years. She holds a BA in Fine Art and Design, an MA equivalency degree in Transpersonal Psychotherapy, and a doctorate in Transformational Art with an emphasis in arts for cultural healing.

Jane Seaton's many years studying psycho-spiritual techniques in India were what led her to develop the concept of Artlife, a theoretical and experiential model offering both personal and planetary healing. As a practicing visual artist throughout her life, she is a skilled painter, sculptor, printer, and weaver. Jane Seaton is also a multi-media and ritual/performance artist.

As a scholar, she is skilled in creating and implementing innovative and interdisciplinary learning strategies. She specializes in valuing other ways of knowing, including many non-linear learning styles.

As a gifted teacher, she utilizes her over-lapping skills as an artist, scholar and therapist. Promoting the belief that students already know what they need to discover through a combination of cognitively and experientially based learning processes.

As a visionary, she invests in our collective potential for radical social/ecological, cultural, and spiritual transformation. She teaches the concept of Artlife in order to further this vision.

Now based in the southwest, Jane Seaton teaches the Artlife process to individuals, groups and organizations. She conducts workshops and longer training programs throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Seaton is the author of a best-selling 6-tapes audiotape set, Artlife: Creative Journeys for Life Healing, which can be purchased from the author.

Jane Seaton is more grounded in everyday reality than the average artist. She has the vision of the artist and yet is so well balanced in the ability to bring this vision into the everyday realm.
